The press conference with Trump and Musk yesterday, transparently discussing DOGE, was great. It is really interesting how different the reporting around DOGE is versus just hearing from them directly. I came away with a positive opinion of the effort. One of the things they talked about is this same limestone mine and its effect on the delayed processing of retirement payments. I can’t believe it is real. But I guess it is.

How is this real? Insane. It is a natural result of people operating in a vacuum with no accountability, yet no real power to make things better. The federal government is a nightmare bureaucracy.
