This is true for all new technology of significant potential impact right? Similar discussions were had about nuclear technology I'm sure. The reality is, with increased access to information and accelerated pace of discovery in various fields, we'll come across things that has the potential for great harm. Be it AI, some genetical engineering causing a plague, nuclear fallout etc. We don't necessarily know what the harm / benefits are all going to be ahead of time, so we only really have 2 choices: 1. try to stop / slow down such advances. Not sure this is even possible in the long run 2. try to get a good grasp of potential dangers and figure out ways to mitigate / control them
