Moore's law crushed by capitalism? Does anyone else have a better explanation?
- Gigachad 2y agoMost likely explanation is that we are comparing 1 months worth of data for 2025 to the full years worth on previous years. The laptops people will have over 2025 haven't been purchased yet. I'd expect the chart to be basically flat for the year to date, but a tiny drop isn't particularly surprising either.
- dgfitz 2y agoI am super curious, if you’ll indulge me. What kind of economic policy would have let Moores law continue as it had been? Conversely, do you think Moores law would have been faster than 18? months if… someone else identified Moores law? Slower? Exist at all?
- derkster 2y agoIntel spend was spending upwards of 15% a quarter on stock buybacks, while also being stalled out on 10nm with the yield improvements "right around the corner", every quarter, for at least 18 months. I don't blame capitalism, but I do blame lack of regulation regarding stock buybacks, especially talking about the United States only home fab.
