The city I live in (Ostrava) still has some gaps in downtown blocks caused by WWII bombing. One of the problems with filling them in? Burdensome parking regulations. Super-absurd, given that the public transport in Ostrava is considered one of the Czechia's best, and Czechia has, globally taken, very good public transport overall. In December 2024, parking regulations were significantly drawn down (to 16 per cent of the original), and there is hope that developers will finally start to build in the gaps. There are already some projects on paper.
