Pricing is hard and these resources do cost money. Some cloud resources have sensible costs like vcpu, storage, data transfer. Other resource pricing like this one are a bit more clumsy.
The question is, how do you think GCP should charge for alerting? A flat fee? Batches e.g. 0-10 free, 10-100 $1/alert ?
$1.50 / alert doesn't scale very well for any size institution.

- parliament32 2y agoIt's $1.50 per configured alert condition per month.
- tonymet 2y agoit's still expensive > 1000 alert conditions is common.
- electroly 2y agoFor comparison, AWS CloudWatch is $0.10 per alarm metric.
- tonymet 2y agothat's a good example and a much more reasonable price. even a graduated scale would be nice. GCP Pricing 4-5 alerts > 1 mo spot instance cost
