Google Cloud will start charging $1.50 / alert
- tonymet 2y agoPricing is hard and these resources do cost money. Some cloud resources have sensible costs like vcpu, storage, data transfer. Other resource pricing like this one are a bit more clumsy. The question is, how do you think GCP should charge for alerting? A flat fee? Batches e.g. 0-10 free, 10-100 $1/alert ? $1.50 / alert doesn't scale very well for any size institution.

- parliament32 2y agoIt's $1.50 per configured alert condition per month.
- tonymet 2y agoit's still expensive > 1000 alert conditions is common.
- electroly 2y agoFor comparison, AWS CloudWatch is $0.10 per alarm metric.
- tonymet 2y agothat's a good example and a much more reasonable price. even a graduated scale would be nice. GCP Pricing 4-5 alerts > 1 mo spot instance cost

- gnabgib 2y agoTitle: Manage alerting costs Nowhere in this document does it say $1.50/alert. $1.50 an alert-condition/month. Pricing: $1.50/mo + $.35/1M alerts https://cloud.google.com/stackdriver/pricing#pricing-alerting https://cloud.google.com/stackdriver/pricing#pricing-alertin...
- tonymet 2y agopeople casually say "set up an alert on xyz domain" . "alert" has both connotations.
- jasonjmcghee 2y agoAgree with others, editorialized misleading title. Should be fixed.
