This seems like a bug to me. Even if the previous commit is “mangled” as they call it, there's no reason why you can't diff against it and only send the diff.

- gbin 2y agoI believe this is because the generated unique id of that node is derived from the link to its parent: https://gist.github.com/masak/2415865 https://gist.github.com/masak/2415865 So the "where to attach it to the tree" info is effectively lost.
