I had two AMD 7900 XTX and they both overheated like mad. Instant 110°C and throttle. Opted for a refund instead of a third GPU.

- seanw444 2y agoProbably reference cards, yeah? I think the common advice is to not buy the reference cards. They rarely cool enough. I made that mistake with the RX 5700 XT, and will never again.
- Hamuko 2y agoYeah, they were reference, direct from AMD's own store.
- bananadonkey 2y agoThose had an issue with their heatpipe design which affected cooling performance depending on their orientation. I made sure to buy an AIB model that didn't suffer the same issue, just in case I want to put the card somewhere funky like a server rack. https://www.tomshardware.com/news/defective-vapor-chamber-may-be-causing-rx-7900-xtx-overheating-issue https://www.tomshardware.com/news/defective-vapor-chamber-ma...
- mrguyorama 2y agoMy 5700XT overheated constantly. It wasn't a reference card. The problem was that the default fan curve in the driver maxed out at 25%! AMD is REALLY bad at software.
- shmerl 2y agoSapphire Nitro has a really nice heatsink for 7900 XTX. It works well even under full load.
