Gyroscope-on-a-Chip Targets GPS's Dominance
- Someone 2y agoCool tech: tiny IMUs (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inertial_measurement_unit https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inertial_measurement_unit) that allow for dead reckoning (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dead_reckoning https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dead_reckoning) with low accumulative error rate, but “Targets GPS’s Dominance”? FTA: “Anello’s and OCSP’s IMUs are designed to work alongside GPS, constantly monitoring location inputs“ These things augment GPS at its weak points: small distances over a limited time period, and inside buildings.
