Why would turboprops make sense? Jets/turbofans are more efficient at high altitudes where there's less air friction as well. This is why turboprops are so common in ultra short haul where there's no point in climbing so high. They're more efficient at lower altitudes. And I don't really see the relation between engine type and cabin space
