The article is misleading, it's not because it's liquid. Kimchi has a potent odor that can be overwhelming, especially in a closed-air environment like a plane.

- wrp 2y ago> Kimchi has a potent odor I had a Korean grad student here in Arizona once whose mother sent her a jar of kimchi by parcel post -- a very large jar. Well, the jar broke in transit and the package arrived as a soggy, stinky mess. I was surprised the mail service actually followed through with delivery. As an occasional traveler on Korean public transportation, I haven't been bothered much by kimchi. What gets to me is dried octopus.
