oh give me a damn break. The Federal Reserve Act was the worst thing to happen to this country. Anything these morons say about being politically independent in the treasury is pure bullshit. America has been owned by big banks for its entire existence. The Rockefellers, Morgans, Larry Fink's all hold way more money in secret reserves than Musk or Bezos. The richest people in the world keep their assets split between many books, and off public radar.
USAID was a CIA slush fund to destabilize nations. The Orange Man administration is reinstating some of them on a case-by-case basis. Basically this moves all CIA clandestine operations back to the State department, while also cutting out an insane amount of waste and kickbacks. But there will be more kickbacks, via some other means.
The real danger is Central Bank Digital Currencies. The other main danger ... is a Central Bank. America does not have a central bank. The Federal Reserve, thought terrible, is amazingly more transparent than nearly every national bank in Europe (which all operate with extreme secrecy that the Fed would love). Banks want to end the way things are, to privatizes the monetary system and exert an extreme amount of surveillance and control over our money supply.
Beware the propaganda of the NY Crimes. You should be angry, but not about the bullshit and lies they pump out.
- scarecrowbob 2y agoI would very much like to agree: I am often angry about politics in the US and think the governments here are basically "three war crimes and a real estate scam in a trench coat". You might consider why almost everyone, including those of us on the far left who despise these institutions, are worried. Unfortunately the folks running the show have been so uniformly nasty to me, people I care about, and the world in general that it's super hard to trust them. I and a lot of queer folks feel directly attacked by this admin, and I've seen a whole lot of folks happily embrace positions that I find actively racist and revanchist. If we compare the rhetoric of, say, FDR to the current admin there is now a complete absence of "we are in this trying time together". Instead it feels very much like folks are thinking "the storm has come" and all their political grievances towards anyone to the left of Reagan will finally come to fruition, and all us blue haired xis and xirs will probably get sent to a black site. And if the bad guys really were going to get their comeuppance, then maybe the nasty cultural connotations involved could be overlooked (they can't be, but let's pretend). Because at the same time, the folks who are making these changes seem incredibly incompetent. It very much looks like they are mashing buttons without any understanding of what they do. I have learned how to operate enough complex tools to know what it looks like when someone with no understanding is just pushing buttons and seeing what happens. That's fine when it's some nerd like me plugging stuff into a modular synth... it seems incredibly worrisome when it's the levers on how much my food will cost or how long I will have to wait until I retire. You can tell me that I'm ignorant and can't see what's going on (that's not a new thought even to myself), but I feel the same way about watching these folks "Hello World" their way through a rewrite of the US Gov as I feel about watching Musk "Sieg Heil": when you make me choose between you and my lying eyes, I am gonna have to go with my eye balls. I'd be stoked to see the whole CIA disbanded. I have no confidence that the folks in power now have either the skills to make that happen, and worry that if they do they will replace it with something even more criminal and vicious. The Storm isn't coming (to be clear, I think that idea is a naval-gazing fantasy). They are just putting their own swamp and whatever they might replace the current systems with is probably just going to screw us all harder. And even if they weren't actively hostile to folks who don't already make mid-6-figures, they likely don't have the chops to implement workable, long-standing institutions.
- kccoder 2y ago> The Rockefellers, Morgans, Larry Fink's all hold way more money in secret reserves than Musk or Bezos. Where does this insight come from? How much money do you suppose these people have? > USAID was a CIA slush fund to destabilize nations. Do you have a source for this claim? This article [https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2025/02/06/what-the-data-says-about-us-foreign-aid/ https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2025/02/06/what-the-...] breaks down how USAID money is spent. I don't see a line item for "CIA slush fund", so, unless you have a reliable source for such a claim, many might suggest that you're just making it up. Doesn't it seem like the CIA has more lucrative sources of money to siphon from which dwarf the USAID's budget? > while also cutting out an insane amount of waste and kickbacks. USAID represents ~1% of the US budget. They could cut the entire thing and it wouldn't make a dent. Take a long look at the defense budget if you're looking for waste and kickbacks. > Beware the propaganda of the NY Crimes. You should be angry, but not about the bullshit and lies they pump out. Goodness. Childish name calling invalidates your opinions in many eyes. I'm not sure there is a source of information regarding the truthiness of various news organizations, but if there were, I don't believe NYT would be a major offender relative to other sources, especially organizations like Fox News. And we angry about the BS news organizations put out, we just don't agree on which news sources are the worst offenders.
