(I have not read all the comments yet, only a few, maybe someone has already said this.) obviously you can do that on your own computer too, but with an online blog, you can read it from anywhere, on any usable device, with an internet connection. you can read your own thoughts or code or whatever from 10 years or more ago. and you can keep your blog private to yourself if you want, on those blogging platforms that support that.
