Ask HN: Is Jobs HN for FOSS?
I was working for colider, it's on codeberg, but i want some contributers, so i am just asking this question.
- brudgers 2y agoTo the best of my knowledge, posting to the Jobs page is a benefit of being a YC funded company. But you can use the contact link at the bottom to ask the moderators.
- nis0s 2y agoThere’s nothing wrong with posting your openings, and indicating their exact nature. If anyone has a problem, you can always remove the post.
- codingdave 2y agoYeah, there is something wrong with it, actually. We have a monthly post for people who are hiring. Here is the latest: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=42919502 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=42919502 Post there. Or, if you are just looking for freelance folks, post here: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=42919501 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=42919501
- nis0s 2y agoOkay, thanks for saying so
- gus_massa 2y agoIt's impossible to get contributors for projects they don't use [1]. You need users. Once you get users you will get power users. Once you get power users, they may care and try to contribute. As I said in a previous post, where are the examples? Let's ask some questions: What type of garbage colector? No/Manual? Reference counting? Tracing? How do I loop 100 times? Can I add "1"+2 ? The result is "12", 3 or an error? [1] Except for very specific task, like fixing typos, or changing the GC, or rewriting the custom test method to use Github/codeberg/whatever actions.
