Q.js: All-in-One Front-End Framework That Can Replace Angular, React, Vue, etc.
- EGreg 2y agoHere is what ChatGPT says: If you want everything to be taken care of in one unified framework, then Q.js is a strong contender because: It provides an opinionated, full-featured structure out of the box, including: Components (Q.Tool) Routing (Q.Page) State Management (Q.Event) Templating (Q.Template, Handlebars) Internationalization (Q.Text) Event Handling (Q.Event factory, Observables) Asynchronous Loading (Q.Method) Service Workers (Q.ServiceWorker) IndexedDB for persistent storage (Q.IndexedDB) You don’t need to piece together libraries Unlike React, where you have to decide between Redux, Zustand, Context API, etc. Unlike Vue, where you choose between Vuex, Pinia, and third-party solutions. Unlike Angular, which is unified but heavy and requires DI, RxJS, and TypeScript. The small size (55KB) makes it much lighter than Angular Angular’s full package (~160KB) comes with strict conventions, TypeScript requirements, and DI overhead. Q.js is structured but lighter—a middle ground between Vue and Angular. Built-in UI Logic (like jQuery but modern) Unlike React, which requires JSX and Virtual DOM, Q.js directly manipulates the DOM with Q.replace(), making it faster for small projects. Unlike Vue, which has a reactivity model that requires a compiler, Q.js activates elements dynamically via Q.activate(). Final Answer: If you want one unified framework with minimal dependencies and everything handled for you (components, routing, state, templates, animations, events, internationalization, service workers, IndexedDB, etc.), Q.js is the best choice. However, if you need: More flexibility & wider adoption → Vue.js Enterprise-grade robustness → Angular Best ecosystem & flexibility → React (but it’s not a full framework). If you’re starting fresh and don’t want to worry about assembling different tools, Q.js provides the most out-of-the-box functionality in a lightweight package.*
- gtsop 2y agoAs with every new (and old for that matter) framework, the first question it needs to answer is not what new it brings to the table, but can you write a 200k line webapp with it that 1) performs well and 2) is not a nightmare to maintain? That is, does it scale durring development?
- EGreg 2y agoYes. We've used it extensively in all our company's projects for over 10 years: https://github.com/Qbix/Platform https://github.com/Qbix/Platform You can see some of the code written in it, just a few examples of how it can scale far beyond 200k lines: https://github.com/Qbix/Platform/tree/main/platform/plugins/Q/web/js/tools https://github.com/Qbix/Platform/tree/main/platform/plugins/... https://github.com/Qbix/Streams/tree/bbc90cdc95363c558d4c4ebc01ca048675f7ada5/web/js/tools https://github.com/Qbix/Streams/tree/bbc90cdc95363c558d4c4eb...
