An excellent and very understandable summary about the functioning of American democracy, especially so for those who live outside the US and who are likely confused by recent events. The reference at the article's end to what political philosophy has to say about such matters is particularly apt, right Hobbes, Locke et al summarized it all centuries ago. What's happening now illustrates that history has ways of repeating itself and that even after hundreds of years of perceptive political analysis society still hasn't found a better or more ideal way of revolving political crises. Edit: why would this story be flagged as it's just a statement of facts? Answer that and perhaps we might edge a bit closer to the resolution to which I referred.
