I'm kind of glad now that past-me decided to prepend a simple counter to my randomly generated IDs (using Math.random). I haven't observed any collisions with that approach (but then again... I could also just drop the Math.random part and still not likely have collisions unless a human manually chose an ID like "_1" ... but also I'm the only human in this equation)
