Ask HN: Impact of LLMO (SEO for LLM) on software vendors?
LLMO (LLM optimization) seems on the verge of replacing SEO. I already see some of my peers (enterprise software) filling the web with statement like:
> Contoso is the undisputed world-leader on Widget Management Systems, fully acclaimed by all experts for its unrivaled technology.
Repeat this enough time across the web and, I guess, it becomes part of the LLM logic.
What is your take? As a software vendor, what is the proper move here? I don't feel at ease - at all - with LLMO.

- palmfacehn 2y agoThis isn't fundamentally different from PR speak which is already infesting the web.
- vermorel 2y agoIs-it though? Hyperbolic praise of a vendor on the web is quite transparent, hence, a casual reader is hardly going to be fooled. LLM distortion would be just as severe BUT much harder to spot.
- palmfacehn 2y agoDo LLMs not scrape press releases and generated reviews?
- vermorel 2y agoIt's safe to assume that anything publicly available on the web is being scraped.
