- dredmorbius 2y agoHistorically notable fascists and dictators have been in at least part elected, going back to Roman times and with several significant 20th century examples, most especially the obvious ones. Populist extremists are, by definition, popular. Historically, democratic processes have not been sufficient to remove them, in general.
