I question young technologies considering ML (which 'AI' is a form of) has really been around since the 80's, it's just in its current form it is new. I would also state that this is primarily focusing on aspects that could considerably impact people's lives in a negative manner if used incorrectly especially as it has inherent bias. Facial recoqnition is already used within certain police forces, and without regulations on detection threshold, this could end up with significant issues regarding false recoqnition from police forces who already have significant bias.
