DeepSeek reportedly has 50k Nvidia GPUs and spent $1.6B on buildouts
- cranberryturkey 2y agoso does this mean NVDA goes back up now??
- beardyw 2y agoI don't think so. There was never any suggestion that the original figure included acquiring hardware anyway.
- cranberryturkey 2y agoany idea if nvda will recover or is it done?
- ai-christianson 2y ago> A major differentiator for DeepSeek is its ability to run its own data centers, unlike most other AI startups that rely on external cloud providers. This independence allows for full control over experiments and AI model optimizations. In addition, it enables rapid iteration without external bottlenecks, making DeepSeek highly efficient compared to traditional players in the industry. Very interesting. So, effectively, their ability to self-host is a big part of what has made them successful.
- ineedasername 2y agoIt’s amazing how cheap it is to build these models once you’ve done the easy work of gathering massive capital and domain expertise. It’s almost like there’s some economic phenomena that kicks in once you scale an operation upwards.
