- bell-cot 2y agoWhy the endless obsession with long-dead Jeff's old business associates? Vs. (say) taking a serious look at who else might have had sex with forty+ 15(ish)-year-old girls, then gotten off with only a few months in a come-and-go-as-you-like luxury "jail"?
- Jimmc414 2y agoWhy not take a look at both? The financial connections reveal the larger infrastructure that enabled abuse - bankers, lawyers, and executives who helped conceal activities and maintain influence.
- bell-cot 2y agoBecause, somehow, "look at both" always seems to be code words for "let's go bash on some private-sector boogie men, while ignoring the fact that the American 'Justice' system let Jeff off virtually scot-free, when it knew - officially, and in great detail - about the dozens of young girls he'd raped." If, back in 2008, Jeff had been locked away for 666 years in max. security - then how much difference would all those bankers and lawyers and such have made?
- Jimmc414 2y agoI suspect the lenient 2008 plea deal was enabled by the very financial relationships and influence we're debating. The bankers and justice system failures aren't separate issues - they potentially explain how Epstein maintained power and evaded consequences. Investigating one helps explain the other.
