Human augmentation is an important step in human evolution, but unfortunately many players in this sphere are not serious people. I think the issue is that perhaps well-meaning and well-funded people are unable to differentiate between real science, potential research topics, and pseudoscience. I don’t think this issue will resolve itself till people who are serious about this research actively invite criticism and peer-review.
