I built a website where you can pop confettis for no reason
- halamadrid 2y agoNice, just spent 2 mins popping.
- xanderlewis 2y agoIt's slightly annoying that the sound effect seems to contain some initial silence. The sounds don't align with the clicks!
- billpg 2y agoBut why?
- xanderlewis 2y agoI refer you to the title of the submission, my good man.
- dailykoder 2y agoBecause so many people on here talk about how good the "old web" used to be. This is it. This is peak old web. Maybe a bit too polished, but still. Pointless and fun, because fun is fun.
- dist-epoch 2y agoPoke the bunny
- mackopes 2y agoDid anyone get a faster click speed than 45ms?
- saagarjha 2y agoI got 2ms but I think this is just lagging in Safari
- latexr 2y agoAt first I was getting 46, then got it down to 32, then 26, then 11. I stopped trying after that, don’t want to waste more than a minute on this. For reference, this was on mobile and it did cause the screen to zoom in and out on occasion due to the fast double taps.

- Fluorescence 2y agoI seem to be capped at 98 ms (FF/chrome ubuntu 24.04).
- RickS 2y ago38, but only by tabbing to the button and finger drumming the enter key
- xnorswap 2y agoSpace key also works, so you can have one hand tapping enter and space along with the other rolling the mouse key.
- yungporko 2y agoi got 16ms on mobile by laying it flat on my desk and spamming with both index fingers

- neilv 2y agoNeeds an observability dashboard for insights.
- thih9 2y agoFor those who want to experiment with different click speed values without clicking, web console code that clicks twice with a set timeout: setTimeout(() => document.getElementsByTagName('button')[0].click(), 1000); setTimeout(() => document.getElementsByTagName('button')[0].click(), 1200); For those who want to test the limits of your device and your neighbors (100 clicks at once, 1s from now): for (var i = 0; i < 100; i++) { setTimeout(() => document.getElementsByTagName('button')[0].click(), 1000);}

- mft_ 2y ago100-200 at one worked reasonably well; 10,000 was definitely a problem :)
- nottorp 2y agoPretty. Do bubble wrap next please!
- mihaaly 2y agoNot bubble wrap, but comparable: https://thezen.zone/switch https://thezen.zone/switch
- tr888 2y agoBut where is the AI?
- esskay 2y agoNeeds a share on bluesky link ;)
- khazhoux 2y agoFor a Linux user, this seems quite trivial to replicate using any kernel since mid-2023, with lower latency and lower security exposure. Also, why have this as a hosted service when confetti popping can be spun up on a local deployment for a fraction of the cost?
- sevg 2y ago> Also, why have this as a hosted service when confetti popping can be spun up on a local deployment for a fraction of the cost? So that the author can get donations while piggybacking off a confetti library that other people wrote.
- nathanappere 2y agoI laughed
- FireInsight 2y agoYou should also add a CPS counter
- adontz 2y agoThank you. I really needed that in my life today.
- franze 2y agono reason pitch: if you like no reason software, a weekend ago i build snake game in an lsd-pentagon for no good reason https://pentasnake.franzai.com/ https://pentasnake.franzai.com/
- its-summertime 2y agoSeems to use https://github.com/catdad/canvas-confetti https://github.com/catdad/canvas-confetti but the license was not included in any form?
- taikahessu 2y agoThis is sad. Especially when you incorporate a personal donation feature, very sad. Edit: This is what the actual post should've been. Here is HN post for the actual script itself https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=40156330 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=40156330
- nickthegreek 2y agoCredit is given on the about page with a link to Canvas Confetti github.
- its-summertime 2y agoSince it is a single page application, its harder to trawl through its history, however: https://web.archive.org/web/20250130094532jm_/https://poptheconfetti.website/assets/index-BLSQwrBH.js https://web.archive.org/web/20250130094532jm_/https://popthe... Searching through the prior index file for "Credits" or the such, yields no results React et al is credited somewhat however.
- taikahessu 2y agoWow, I didn't even notice or realize it was a link! Edit: it was probably added afterwards and donations were removed.
- cardosof 2y agoThis is what the internet is for! (it's for all the other useful, valuable, life-saving stuff too)
- mihaaly 2y agoShould be submitted here: https://theuselessweb.com/ https://theuselessweb.com/
- jeanlucas 2y agoFlagging it for: - just a website to ask donations - didn't give credit for the open source code that it is required by license This is not a good behavior and should not be on HN
- shaunpud 2y agoMe too, lost a few hours sleep on this one.
- nickthegreek 2y agoDid it get updated over the last 2 hours? I see credit on the About page and no donation link.
- taikahessu 2y agoYeah, there was no About page before and the donation link is now removed too.
- Molitor5901 2y agoHa! That brought a smile to my face. Thank you.
