  This was always true before covid. Some of us reset our expectations during covid to expect people to be better than before, but many of us apparently didn't, which shouldn't be entirely surprising. It takes a long time to totally change a culture, and a lot of people were very happy to revert to the way things were before. Reverting back to the way things were when life was simpler doesn't make them bad people, it just makes them human.
