Is the word aircraft feminine? They keep saying “she” and it sounds weird.
- throwaway314155 2y agoIt's a thing. You can selectively gender a creation or just a highly praised piece of property (e.g. boats). It implies fondness, respect and pride.
- davedx 2y agoIt's from when the English language had gendered nouns, which of course predates aircraft; I think aircraft being female was a carry-over from boats and ships being female
