Blogging on Paper (2017)
- WesolyKubeczek 2y agoFor a moment I thought it was about a tech bro discovering diaries, but it’s about Dropbox Paper.
- 1f60c 2y agoI had the same exact thought. It's good to remember that writing ≠ publishing[0]. I'm not sure if it matters much in this case, but the OP is (2017). [0]: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=23316443 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=23316443
- shreddit 2y agoI thought it the predecessor of this https://daily.tinyprojects.dev/paper_website https://daily.tinyprojects.dev/paper_website where someone writes blog posts on paper and trained an ai to scan the handwriting and post it online.
- malfist 2y agoThat is fascinating. I love the thought that went into it. I journal and enjoy the physicality of writing. Maybe I should sign up to run my astrophotography blog that way
- rednafi 2y ago*Dropbox Paper
- reactivematter 2y agoOr you may use Obsidian with Syncthing and write notes or blog on any device.
- 6stringmerc 2y agoThis is why generic names for products / services are such a bad move - I did blogging on paper while in jail. It's called a journal. Now when I get my resources together, I'm going to scan those 300 or so pages and upload them to Medium and transcribe them digitally for easier reading. Obviously "Paper" for this guy didn't work if we're reading a post from 2017. And no, even with the tablets provided by Tarrant County Corrections, blogging was not available.
- cocodill 2y agoYes, many people did that back then, it was called a newspaper column.
- LorenzoGood 2y agoPlease dont use medium.
- julianeon 2y agoSeems a bit overly complicated for a blog, no? Like there's a HUGE middle ground between like "blogging on pager" and "posts in Markdown using vim, generating HTML using Jekyll, and serving the content via a small web app in Go on Heroku." I use AWS Amplify with JS - sometimes React, sometimes Svelte - (although there's plenty of alternatives) and you can easily make it this simple. 1. Write post in markdown. 2. Push to git. Done: it will appear looking perfectly nice as a blog post. Basically only his first step: "write posts in Markdown using vim".
