New Zealand relaxes visa rules to lure digital nomads and influencers
- bell-cot 2y agoFor those not planning to live in their yachts - how's the cost of housing looking in New Zealand? A mid-2024 article I found claimed the national median house sale price was almost $800K. (Presumably $NZ. The latter is about 57 cents US - so a bit under $450K US.)
- billybuckwheat 2y agoRents vary depending on where you live -- can be anywhere from $450 (NZD) a week and up. For example, I have friends who rent in Christchurch and Wellington, and they're paying $650 NZD a week (for a three-bedroom townhouse) and $550 NZD a week (for a two-bedroom apartment), respectively. You might find something for less, but places with cheaper rent also might be older, cold, leaky, and drafty.
- robocat 2y agoAuckland is expensive - median house price there is USD566k. Plus if you're coming to NZ for the lifestyle, then you probably wouldn't choose to be in Auckland. Yachts can be quite cheap. I had a friend who bought a trailer-sailer to live in for a while and bought a cheap 4WD to tow it. I've seen a few tourists living down at the marina in Christchurch. There's quite a few around.
