I agree. It would be pretty hopeless if OpenAI had to compete with a model trained on less than $10M - can't they just buy DeepSeek and rebrand it?

- wubrr 2y agoThat's not going to prevent the next DeepSeek from emerging.
- nicce 2y agoWhen looking about the staments of the founder, DeepSeek is what OpenAI promised to do originally. They are not for sale.

- Davidzheng 2y agoNot sure if joking but even llama 3 training was estimated 60M compute cost. It doesn't mean that the total cost to get there is only 60M.
