I don’t understand this argument. Gov should fine/tax emissions. If the emissions are too high then tax it more. End of story. Does it really matter who is doing it and for what purpose? This reminds me of the internet going crazy over Taylor Swift flying everywhere with her private jets. It just smells like trying to take blame away from the gov and putting it on private people/companies who are just following the law. As long as you’re paying a fine proportional to the damage you’re causing, I don’t care whether it’s for AI or crypto or just pumping carbon for the sake of it. Emissions too high? Increase the fine.
