Only clicked the kink to find out why on Earth would someone opt for MongoDB and (besides other concerns) forego the option to use proper relational queries later on, and I (sort-of /s) wasn not disappointed: Writing MongoDB queries felt like magic: { column: { $exists: true } } This in SQL: SELECT COUNT(column) WHERE column IS NOT NULL; MongoDB: 29 chars. SQL: 45 chars. That's it. MongoDB's queries are so much shorter than SQL queries... like magic!
