Appeals Court Affirms U.S. Navy Should Pay $154k in Piracy Damages, Not $155M
- asdefghyk 2y agoIts like ... take something, do not use it, then, then no charge
- asdefghyk 2y agoA better (fairer?) answer would probably be a figure in-between the 2 amounts quoted. So maybe a much lesser $$ amount , charge for installations where software was installed but not used. The $154K amount is the (discounted) loss for all the PCs where software was actually used. ( In my mind raises very interesting questions where other similar electronic goods, books , moves are copied but never looked at )
- soganess 2y agoImagine trying this argument against the RIAA or MPAA: >> Your honor, my client doesn't dispute downloading all those movies... but surely... you must take into consideration the fact that they haven't seen the overwhelming majority of them yet Which begs the question, is a movie still a movie if there is no one to watch it? Or is it merely an unrealized collection of random seeming bits?
