I'm not disagreeing, but perhaps during the execution of that project, something far more valuable than next token predictors is discovered. The cost of not discovering that may be far greater, particularly if one's adversaries discover it first.
- thrance 2y agoMaybe? But it still feels very wrong seeing this much money evaporating (litteraly, by Joule heating) in the name of a highly hypothetical outcome. Also, to be fair, I don't feel very aligned with tech billionaires anymore, and would rather someone else discovers AGI.
