My wife's car has automatic emergency braking that kicks in when I am turning on a cul-de-sac and there are cars in the street, it feels I am going to hit them so it just brakes all of the sudden. Also when getting into a turn lane that has multiple lanes and I move to the inside lane but there are cars in the outside turn late, it feels I am going to hit those cars and brakes all of the sudden. It has happened enough I am just prepared for situations the car might feel like braking on its own.
- threecheese 2y agoSounds annoying, and even though this feature undoubtedly saves lives, I’m not convinced that I want to be compelled to have it. My understanding though is that lacking regulation, the demand just wouldn’t exist. I might have died there on the Belt Parkway this summer, didn’t even see that guy slam his brakes and wondered wtf my car was doing. JFK, everyone’s in a rush.
