Trump aims to cut US force in Europe by 20k, compel subsidies from allies
- jleyank 2y agoBrought me back from hibernation it did… Go for it. Pull out of Europe and make them do it themselves. Don’t be surprised when nobody helps against China, or when competitive aerospace industries grow stronger, or when increased spending on national forces is seen as political and economic stimulus by the EU. Going to be hard to deploy anywhere if the only bases are in CONUS. Going to lose a lot of f35 and other hardware sales, and the local tech industries will appreciate the funds. Boots on the ground and weapons on their shoulders. Ukraine showed the value of drones and portables. Remember, a major goal of NATO was to reduce the need for Germany to go it solo with an army. Make it fear its neighbours and, well, that always didn’t go well in the past.
- yostrovs 2y agoThere's 100,000 American troops in Europe. This will be reduced to 80,000. The hysteria over everything Trump does is now old and boring.
