I asked them for a code so I could continue the conversation and then looked up the phone number on their website and called that and talked through reps till I got to the right department. Caller ID being spoofed is the wrong way to think about this. It's just that if someone walks up to you and says "Hey, I'm Jean d'Eau and I'm President of the US" you don't think to yourself "oh yeah he's definitely President and that's his name". People can always tell you they're whoever they want to be. You can either believe it or go find out if they are.
