Iceberg has branching but it doesn’t really have great “merge” semantics, but the semantics otherwise would work good for batch semantics. What I think I’d like is to say “there are only AppendFilesCommits in these two branches” and merge the two, or otherwise look at the operations to determine if they two things can be fast forwarded.
