Some people say "yes" straight away, some want to feel like they bargained for something. The 45-but-really-50 line works for both.
- artmageddon 14y agoA lot of other offers I had gotten at the time didn't budge after the initial offer, and they hadn't been as good as the one I accepted. I do see your point, though.
- jbooth 14y agoYeah, I wasn't saying that's always the case, but there's something about "45" that says "you can have 50 and feel like you drove a hard bargain".
