Ask HN: Thoughts on AI integrating into society over the next 10 years?
We've all been watching AI improve and improve and improve, I think the path has becomes relatively clear at this point, at least the next 5 years: we're going to get more and more sophisticated generative machine learning systems that can be used as a stand in for a human in very many circumstances.
In my personal life I see 2 very clear camps emerging:
not really interested in using it. it's not actually that useful. I find purpose outside of my work so if a computer replaces me work, oh well hopefully things work out. You(/us) tech people are really fucking stupid for doing this.
or
i'm learning anything I want from this thing! this is great, can't wait to get my bottom line fixed. every idea I have that I think society(/I) needs I can now build without asking other people. first billion dollar 1 person company when? this thing is going to save all of humanities problems!
I'm not a historian but I'd guess this has been a similar story throughout history. It's something I've been giving a lot of, not particularly enjoyable, thought to, would be very interested to hear others thoughts and their lived experience right now.
