I had no idea all of these KИ cars were Kia until recently. I thought it was a new brand. My eyes can only see a backwards "N" not "IA".

- dlcarrier 2y agoThe best part is that in Cyrillic languages, the backwards an makes an 'ee' sound, so 'KИ' is pronounced like 'key', pretty close to 'Kia'. I really hope someone make a stick-on badge, in the same style as the 'KИ' logo, of a 'Я', which is pronounced 'ya'. If added to the 'KИ' logo to make 'KИЯ', it would be 'Kia' in Cyrillic.
- filoleg 2y agoYeah, noticed it as well lol. Either КИЯ or КИА could work (the latter probably would work even better). Interestingly enough, I was trying to figure out which of the two cyrillic transliteration was the “officially” accepted one, so I went to their russian wikipedia page[0]. To my surprise, I wasn’t able to find the answer, as all mentions of the company/brand name on that page were in english only. 0. https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kia_Motors https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kia_Motors
- dlcarrier 2y agoThe pronunciation of 'Kia' itself varies depending on what region, and I don't live in the deep south, but I'm sticking with 'КИЯ' anyway, because it looks more Cyrillic.
