- lxgr 2y ago> some of the most-used, most-purchased, and most-loved apps are web apps Arguably despite being web apps, not because of. I'd really like to see a quotation for "most-loved". Personally, the only "web app" on my system I love is... Firefox. > Operating System WebViews are more performant [...] I have not seen data that proves that built-in WebViews perform better than Chromium Tell me you have never used a computer with less than 32 GB of RAM without telling me... > The argument: End users prefer apps that are 5 MB over apps that are 200 MB. [...] Users, both in the consumer and business space, do not care. Cool, are you paying for the inevitable $200 storage tier upgrade of my next iPhone/Mac? Every time I see a 5 MB iOS app, I am delighted at how fast it installs. Every time I see a 0.5 - 1 GB monster that does next to nothing (most bank apps somehow seem to fall in that category), I sigh and wonder if I can find a way to actually live without the app. And whenever I run short on storage space, big apps are the first thing to go!
- sombragris 2y agoYeah, I found the condescending tone about bloat quite insulting.
- rascul 2y agoWhat is this "built-in WebView primitive" that Linux distros ship with?
