Netflix price increase leaves fans furious

- skyyler 2y ago$8 a month in 2011 is equal to $11.16 according to inflation. Netflix web streaming was a great value at $11. I don't think it's a very good value at $25. At a certain point, streaming services are competing against the cost of a seedbox, and seedboxes are not very expensive.
- dns_snek 2y agoThey've always had poor visual quality (bitrate-related artifacts), the prices keep rising, they banned password sharing which they previously encouraged, the catalogue is shrinking and its quality is declining, they're introducing ads, you need multiple streaming subscriptions, etc. The service just keeps getting worse. I left a long time ago but I'm clearly out of touch, where does the average consumer draw the line? I expect the next pirate uprising to take the world by storm once the masses figure out how much better and less expensive their experience could be.
- skyyler 2y agoI'm still in the land of usenet and torrents to grow a collection on a NAS that's then played with VLC, but I think the kids like streamio now.

- nhance 2y agoVery curious if there's a way to use the accessibility features of Android TV to auto-mute when the ads appear. It's not worth it to pay for anything more than the lowest price plan here.
- Molitor5901 2y agoLike last time people will pay, unless the economists at Netflix have been laid off. When they prevented people from sharing accounts, not that many people apparently cancelled, nor when they raised the price last time. People become addicted to their streaming outlets and FOMO, so in the end, I think they will continue to pay.
- jkmcf 2y agoI watch Netflix the most, so while I hate the increase, it’s not a big deal compared with Apple and Disney/Hulu/ESPN. If I only buy the Apple’s essential services, I pay almost the same as the bundle, which is frustrating, to put it mildly. Cutting the cord isn’t cutting the cost to only watch what you need. Which reminds me, I need to cancel Sling until the NHL playoffs arrive.
- RajT88 2y agoAs long as they keep adding Korean romance dramas featuring pretty crying men, my wife will keep paying for the service and using it daily. For my part, I love me some Castlevania.
