Liberux Nexx: New Linux Smartphone with 32GB RAM, 2TB Storage and 5G
- perihelions 2y agoHuh, a surprising-looking gadget with literally zero web presence. Another source says that this public release announcement was accidental, - "(a developer on the project says it’s an early version that wasn’t really meant to be widely promoted yet (sorry about that)." https://liliputing.com/liberux-nexx-is-a-linux-smartphone-with-a-rk3588s-chip-32gb-ram-and-a-5g-modem-crowdfunding/ https://liliputing.com/liberux-nexx-is-a-linux-smartphone-wi... which cites/links to https://mastodon.social/@BUF0/113861499824760360 https://mastodon.social/@BUF0/113861499824760360
- nirui 2y agoThis phone is really what Librem 5 wants to be. It even got more RAM than my laptop. Also, > NEXX provides you a full ARM Linux system, including a jailed Android... (from https://liberux.net/ https://liberux.net/) Smart move. With Android support, if user ended up hating Linux, they can still have a fallback option to at least have a "normal" phone (from the aspects of UX usability, battery life and other software optimizations). EDIT: Oops, reading perihelions's comment, maybe the information on the page maybe subject to change. Guess I should keep in my happy for now.

- d3Xt3r 2y agoIt should be noted that the crowdfunding campaign doesn't even exist (yet), and even if it did, I highly doubt their ability to deliver - especially a device with 32GB RAM. Even Canonical promised a similarly high-end phone back in the day and got people all excited for nothing. I'd think twice before investing in this potential scam/vapourware.
