Again a small push forwards for the post-modernists against the modernists. But remember that Biden immediately dropped this EO. The American Institute of Architects is also baffled that more expensive ornamentics trump functionalism. And a good Oscar push for the wonderful "The Brutalist" which just had a ridiculous AI setback.
- coldtea 2y ago>The American Institute of Architects is also baffled that more expensive ornamentics trump functionalism. Given that they're responsible for the visual eyesore that is modern public and landmark buildings, it's no wonder they're "baffled". Apparently they never understood that beauty is also highly functional.
- beardyw 2y ago> Apparently they never understood that beauty is also highly functional How are gothic pillars and ornamentation functional?
- coldtea 2y agoBecause people don't live on mechanical function alone, and beauty serves a nourishing purpose The same way that eating Soylent like slop can make you depressed and demotivated, even if nominaly it has all the nutrients you need.
- 0dayz 2y agoYou can't claim that that's what functionalism is, it has a different name. Or should we say monkey shit now when we mean president?
