I would absolutely embrace AI if the means of production was owned collectively, not by the few privileged.
It seems to me, that the path we are on will lead us closer to a Terminator-like future, and less likely to lead to a positive future.
Our leadership are greedy fools.
- listenallyall 2y ago> Our leadership are greedy fools. Why? Because our government hasn't seized the assets of the AI companies, like intellectual eminent domain? This is brand new technology from which nobody knows the eventual impact on society (hence the discussion in this thread). And if the government did take it over, who would continue to build it, earning a govt salary?
- mostlysimilar 2y agoAre you really so intellectually un-curious that this is the only alternative you can envision? How about a government that recognizes the benefits of technological progress but ensures the rewards are shared by all instead of just a select few?
- senordevnyc 2y agoTo be fair, they were specifically responding to a comment about "the means of production being owned collectively", which sounds exactly like the government seizing assets.
