My prediction: as European countries feel increasingly estranged from the US they will gravitate towards China. Some recent statements from Trump makes you wonder there is any friendliess remaining in the relationship. Perhaps better to play out US and China against each other, a little bit like Turkey acts visavi NATO on one hand and Russia on the other.
