I see this a lot in the local startup community too. There's a lot of "ecosystem" feeders who survive on the supply of newbies, but the old experienced founders have mostly either exited and retired, want nothing to do with the startup scene any more, or have just given up and got a job. The buzz from 10-15 years ago just isn't there any more.
