Home Assistant Voice Preview is an unusable mess
- thebeardisred 2y agoWhile I believe the author when they attest to their technical acumen, I believe they may not be the target audience (at this point). This paragraph describing an attempt to install on MacOS raised a particular eyebrow for me: > why is this not a docker image? or some mountable thing? instead i need some vm nonsense? well fuck that i will look into that later. (I later found out that Virtualbox is a specific type of vm hypervisor, but i didnt know that, maybe include some instructions to download virtualbox…) As did this one > hmm. new macs dont have apt-get anymore. No shade, but these are pretty basic concepts and of not well understood will absolutely make the complex architecture of Home Assistant a challenge to work with.
- pseudosaid 2y agohome assistant runs great on a raspberry pi. just write the image and go. could not have been easier. this read like “ i got an apple watch, and i guess it needs an iphone to set it up but im an android guy”
