Has Trump changed the retirement plans for the country's largest coal plants?
- LinuxBender 2y agoJust anecdotal input, talking to a coal miner here in Wyoming he said they received a 3 year deal to produce a massive amount of coal. I forgot the tonnage that was requested but he said it was unusually large. I assumed it was just wartime stockpiling but maybe there is more to it.
- ggm 2y ago"just" wartime stockpiling. Sit and look at that for a while. Anyhoo, the last time there was a stockpile in Coal I took notice of, it was Margaret Thatcher, ahead of the forseeable strike by the miners. She won, a lot off the back of the huge stockpile, which the miners strike fund couldn't prevent making their pickets somewhat irrelevant. The ones since then I've seen around Newcastle NSW loading docks, were really not that big. I felt they were adequate to the shipping pipeline. They have quite complex feeder methods, very long belts, which can mix the inputs so that a ship can take from one pile, or another, or a blend. I think it's both who owns the coal being sold, and what BTU equivalent they are selling, and the boat.

There have been many escalations occurring every day that the media will not cover. Everyone's red lines have been crossed so many times it's a highway at this point. Many countries in the EU have been positioning tactical nukes at their borders and building bunkers and break neck pace. Now it's just a waiting game.
