I knew one day I'd have to watch powerful men burn the world down

- apwell23 2y ago> It’s time for us to start getting revenge on the nerds.
- b3ing 2y agoThey aren’t nerds, they are MBA/Trustfund bros
- orionblastar 2y agoIf they burn it down in four years, we vote Democratic and build the world back up again. Can we fix it like Bob the Builder? Yes, we can! When I was a child I was a troublemaker but I learned how to get out of trouble and become a troubleshooter which made me a good coder. All I know how to do is build things and upgrade from old stuff to newer things. Logistics, change management, super debugging, codebase building, prototyping, beta testing, quality control, etc. If Japan rebuilt itself after WWII, so could the USA after Trump's second term.
- DemocracyFTW2 2y agoThat's a very cavalier attitude and shockingly removed from real life. Hey sorry we bombed and burned your place to the ground but I'm sure we can rebuild it. I know how to fix things, no problem! You never grew up in post-WWII Japan I guess nor can you imagine the humanitarian dimension of the destruction.
- ThrowawayR2 2y agoNot a peep about the incompetence of the Democratic party and their allies that allowed this to occur. Nor a word about the fed up voters whose needs have been ignored by them. Just more vitriol, this time against "techbros" and nerds, alienating more voters and donors that the Democrats are going to desperately need in the midterms and 2028. Good luck with doubling down on what so far has been a losing strategy.
- catlover76 2y ago> Not a peep about the incompetence of the Democratic party and their allies that allowed this to occur. Nor a word about the fed up voters whose needs have been ignored by them. They weren't ignored. I'm not a big fan of the Democratic party, but I honestly don't get this lazy line of criticism. What do you expect them to have done? Did they not pass a massive infrastructure bill, is not most of their platform friendlier to the common person than the Republican one, are they not the party that has at least attempted to get more Americans healthcare? etc. etc. Voting for Trump is an immoral nonsense course of action, and if someone who isn't rich believes he'll do anything to improve their life, then they're stupid on top of it.
- DemocracyFTW2 2y agoThose techbros have to be railed against though. Also when talking about the US election one must say that however disappointing and removed Democrats may be or appear to be to many people—Trump still got 65% of the votes in Springfield, Ohio, which is clearly a case of the cattle electing their slaughterer.
- tim333 2y agoThe Guardian is a UK paper and so tends to avoid going on about US domestic politics. That said the Democrats could have done better. When Biden resigned they could have tried to get a candidate who was mainstream and competent whereas Kamala was to the left of everyone and seemed kind of stupid saying stuff like 220 million Americans killed by covid https://youtu.be/70INoAyqWRY https://youtu.be/70INoAyqWRY and chosen more for being a black woman than for competence. I guess the voters got fed up with that kind of thing.
